I am pleased to share with you the highlights of our achievements during the months of July through October 2024.

Foremost, Flotilla 6-8 showcased remarkable dedication and commitment, accumulating over 3,300 hours of service. This is a true testament to the hard work put in by every one of you. I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your unwavering effort to our Dana Point flotilla and the USCG.

I am thrilled to share that our team has expanded with the addition of two new members and two transfers. This growth not only strengthens our flotilla, but also brings fresh perspectives and expertise to the table.  As of November 1, we have 57 members who have contributed over 10,500 hours so far in 2024, making up 27% of Division 6’s overall hours.

In terms of operations, we successfully conducted over 101 vessel exams, 80 partner visits over 136 hours in boat operations.  Furthermore, we actively supported key events in the maritime community, including the Dana Point Harbor Boat Ramp blitz in September.

Our public affairs and marine safety teams played an instrumental role in the success of the Newport Beach Narwhal event, Beach Clean-Up and the Ocean Institute Maritime Festival (photo below). Your dedication to promoting public awareness and ensuring the safety of all involved deserves commendation.

On a lighter note, our culinary team was busy catering various retirement events for the District 6 and the San Pedro base, dedicating 226 hours in providing delicious meals. Our team continues to receive high praise from the USCG in terms of support and dedication.

In terms of infrastructure, we made significant progress in the PATON verification for Dana Point Harbor. As of now, we have completed 93% of the verifications and will carry out the remaining tasks this summer. This achievement demonstrates our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of navigational safety.

Finally, I am pleased to announce that Hans Devouassoux has taken on the role of FSO-FN, effective September. Please join me in congratulating Hans on his new position and offering him your support as he navigates this role.

Once again, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your hard work and dedication. Our accomplishments over the past few months reflect your commitment to excellence. Let us continue to work together, support one another, and strive for even greater achievements.
