Members of Orange County-based Flotillas 6-1 and 6-3 sailed up the coast to support the 63rd annual L.A. Harbor Boat Parade in the Port of Los Angeles on December 7, 2024.
Coxswain Dale Zimmermann from Division 6 Flotilla 6-1 led crew members Steve Baine, of Flotilla 6-1; Connie Trejo, Flotilla 6-3; and Joe Benton, Flotilla 6-3, aboard the Auxiliary boat Serenity. They rendezvoused with Coxswain Al Verdi, of Flotilla 12-76 aboard Adesso II, joined by crew members Marc Mazorow and Rick Terrell from Flotilla 5-9, based in San Pedro.
The annual event starts at East Basin near Banning’s Landing Community Center in Wilmington and takes about 90 minutes to cover the entire parade route south through the port’s main channel, ending in San Pedro. About 50 boats decorated with holiday lights participate each year.
